During the meeting, Shettar referred to the Union Budget 2026–27 announcement on high-speed rail corridors connecting seven cities across the country. He proposed that the Bengaluru–Belagavi–Mumbai route be included as an eighth high-speed rail corridor, stating that such a move would accelerate development in several small and medium towns along the stretch.

The MP also requested consideration for a new railway line connecting Parakanatti, Gokak, and Yadwad in Belagavi district to Bagalkot. He pointed out that the proposed route passes through regions with multiple cement and sugar factories and would greatly benefit both industries and the general public.

In addition, Shettar urged the Minister to revise the departure time of the Belagavi–Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express from 5:35 am to 6:15 am to make it more convenient for passengers.

Later, he met Railway Board Chairman and CEO Satish Kumar at Rail Bhavan and sought approval for a preliminary survey for a new railway line between Lokapur, Ramdurg, Savadatti and Dharwad. He also requested restoration of the discontinued Belagavi–Mangoor train service.

The Railway Minister and the Railway Board Chairman assured him that the proposals would be examined and necessary action taken at the earliest.
