Vande Bharat Belagavi Extension on Priority
The MPs urged the Railway Minister to extend the Bengaluru-Dharwad Vande Bharat Express to Belagavi at the earliest. They also requested an official announcement regarding the launch date, emphasizing that Belagavi is a major hub that requires better rail connectivity. This extension, if approved, would significantly benefit business travelers, students, and tourists.
Currently, the Vande Bharat Express operates only between Bengaluru and Dharwad, leaving passengers from Belagavi with limited options. As a result, many commuters face inconvenience and longer travel times. The proposed extension is expected to reduce travel duration and provide a faster, more comfortable journey. Moreover, it will enhance economic opportunities by improving access to major cities.
New Rail Line to Saundatti Yallamma Temple
The delegation also requested a route survey for a new railway line to connect Saundatti Yallamma temple to Dharwad and Bagalkot. This survey would explore the feasibility of a railway track along the Lokapur-Ramdurga-Saundatti-Dharwad route.
Since Saundatti Yallamma is a famous pilgrimage site, thousands of devotees visit the temple every year. Therefore, improved railway connectivity would make travel easier for pilgrims from different parts of Karnataka and beyond. Additionally, a dedicated railway line could boost tourism and contribute to local businesses.
More Railway Demands for Belagavi
In addition to the Vande Bharat expansion, the MPs put forward several other key requests:
- A daily passenger train between Belagavi and Miraj to improve regional connectivity.
- Extension of Mumbai-Hospet (Train No. 11139/40) to Ballari, which would accommodate more travelers.
- Extension of Solapur-Hospet (Train No. 11415/16) to Ballari, making travel easier for passengers.
These additional railway services would benefit daily commuters, traders, and tourists. Furthermore, they would strengthen transportation links between important economic and religious centers.
Positive Response from the Railway Minister
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw responded positively to the demands and assured the delegation that they would be considered. Given the growing importance of Belagavi as a commercial and cultural hub, these railway developments are crucial for the region.
Now, Belagavi residents eagerly await official confirmation of these railway upgrades. Once implemented, these changes will transform travel convenience and accessibility.
