The decision comes after BJP leaders expressed dissatisfaction during the 2023 winter session in Belagavi over delayed fund releases. Addressing the concerns during a Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting, Siddaramaiah confirmed, “I signed the file on Sunday itself. The grant is for all MLAs, including BJP and JDS members.”
However, some legislators argued that the amount was insufficient to meet growing developmental demands. In response, Siddaramaiah encouraged MLAs to utilize the current allocation efficiently and assured them of additional funding opportunities in February. Further proposals will be considered in the 2025-26 state budget.
During the meeting, Congress in-charge Randeep Surjewala urged party members to resolve concerns internally, emphasizing the need to adhere to party guidelines. Siddaramaiah reinforced this stance, stating, “All matters should be addressed within the party framework.”
This grant has been welcomed as a positive step, though calls for increased allocations continue to resonate among MLAs looking to fulfill development priorities in their constituencies.
