The Covid 19 pandemic which started from the year 2020 has devastated many lives physically and mentally. At the end of 2020 their were less number of Covid cases recorded, with the period of time the vaccination drive which has also began from the first week of Jan.
Various rules and guidelines were given by the government for the ongoing pandemic to control the number of cases but as a result due to more traveling, locals and interstate travels by people the rise in the cases started increasing slowly back again from the month of Jan.
As per the reports, there was a sudden spike observed in Maharashtra Covid cases, which once again has made a tough environment. Almost around 6281 cases of Covid 19 were reported in Maharashtra for the continues second day on Saturday, according to the State gov health bulletin. The worst-affected districts are Amravati, Pune and Nagpur.
All this clearly indicates that the Second Wave of Covid 19 has Possibly started in the earnest in Maharashtra. In context with the above, based on the recent SOP recommended for a similar situation arising out of Kerala.
The following rules are made for the arrivals from Maharashtra:
1. If there are a cluster of five or more cases of Covid 19 in the hostels, boarding or residential, educational institutions such places shall be declared as “containment zones” by the “local health authorities and special surveillance measures initiated. After 7 days of notifying of the containment zone, the students and the staff should be retested with the RT-PCR.
2. Strict enforcement of Covid 19 precautions like compulsory wearing of masks, physical distancing, use of sanitizers, monitoring the symptoms in hostels, educational institutions are very important. The heads of the institutions shall be responsible for any lapses in this regard.
3. A negative RT-PCR certificate that is not older than 72 hrs shall be compulsory for those who arrive by flight/buses/trains/personal transport.
4. Positive samples shall be sent to NIMHANS laboratory for genomic sequencing.
5. Strict compliance of the Covid 19 appropriate behaviors in all the colleges should be ensured by the college and the university administration.
6. Even the short term travelers from Maharashtra should produce the RT-PCR negative certificate not older than 72 hrs. This negative report will be valid for the period of 7 days.
7. The employees from Maharashtra working in multinational companies , hotels, resorts, lodges, home stays in Karnataka should get a RT-PCR test done at their own cost.
8. The relevant SOP of Covid 19 of Gov/University/National regulatory authorities like UGC,NMC, AICTE etc. For the higher educational institutions shall be strictly compiled with.
The District Authorities may take suitable preventive measures as and when required with intimation to the State.
