Encroached Nallahs Raise Flood Fears Ahead of Monsoon in Belagavi
Belagavi, June 15: With the monsoon setting in, residents of several flood-prone localities in Belagavi are once again bracing for flooding and waterlogging, citing encroachments
Doesn’t Belagavi feels more humid and hot in 2021? I still remember when I was in school, I used to visit my granny’s house in Bijapur in my vacations.
Everytime I used to go out in an afternoon, I always used to complaint to my grandpa that Bijapur is very hot, our Belagavi is “Thanda Thanda Cool Cool”. But my perspective about this has changed recently.
A lot of trees that used to absorb the heat of Belagavi are missing. We here at Marvelous Belgaum got a news by one of the Belgaumite that a giant tree which was there, absorbing heat for decades was removed in Kalmeshwar housing colony near KLE M. S. Shesagiri College of engineering and technology, Angol Road, Belagavi
Is this Government run out of its mind?
Why is our Forest Department sleeping?
What has happened to city corporation to ignore this huge issue?
Why the hell a 40-50 year old tree was destroyed in the name of development?
Who gave them permission to cut this life?
Its high time that we should wake up and save the trees. If we save the trees today, they will save us from drastic weather change tomorrow.
Team Marvelous Belgaum urges all the Belgaumites to look after the trees that are in your surroundings and if there isn’t one, then please plant one so that our future generations can enjoy the coolness of Belagavi that we did in our childhood.
