Belagavi: Belagavi MP Jagadish Shettar inspected the ongoing development works at Belagavi Railway Station and reviewed the progress of projects being implemented under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.

The station is being upgraded with an estimated ₹19 crore, covering facilities such as a foot overbridge, escalators and lifts. Expressing concern over delays, Shettar directed officials to complete the foot overbridge by October 31, 2026, and the escalator and lift works by September 30, 2026.
The MP also raised concerns over cleanliness on trains, particularly the Rani Channamma Express, following complaints from passengers. He warned railway officials that they would be held directly responsible for maintaining cleanliness.
Shettar further announced plans to visit Desur Railway Station and assess its potential for development as an alternative to Belagavi Railway Station. The study will be conducted in the presence of senior officials from the South Western Railway zone.
Railway engineers, former MLA Anil Benake, corporator Jayateerth Savdatti and BJP city members were present during the inspection.
