During the meeting, Shettar highlighted Belagavi’s unique advantages, combining agricultural and industrial excellence. He emphasized the region’s significant contribution to Karnataka’s agricultural output, particularly in crops like ragi, wheat, spices, sugarcane, and tobacco. These crops not only support local industries but also boost the nation’s export economy.
Shettar also underscored Belagavi’s industrial growth, particularly its prominence in hydraulic industries and its status as Karnataka’s second capital. He explained how establishing NIFTEM in the city would provide immense benefits to farmers, entrepreneurs, and industries by offering access to advanced technology, research, and training.
In response, Minister Chirag Paswan acknowledged the strategic importance of the proposal and assured a detailed review. He noted that a NIFTEM facility in Belagavi could significantly enhance the food processing sector and strengthen the region’s economic framework.
Belagavi continues to position itself as a key hub for innovation and development, making it an ideal candidate for hosting such an institution.
Stay tuned for updates on this significant proposal.
