The investigation revealed that the child’s parents, Rajendra Metri and Shilpa Metri from Sangli, Maharashtra, sold their daughter to Smitha Wadikar, a resident of Goa. Vandana Surave from Belagavi and Ravi and Rani Raut, a couple from Maharashtra, facilitated the transaction. Police suspect that Ravi and Rani Raut played a key role in masterminding the racket.
The exchange reportedly occurred at a hotel in Joida, Uttara Kannada district. Officials believe the network extended across multiple states, exploiting vulnerable families for financial gain.
