Former Belagavi Deputy Commissioner Shalini Rajaneesh, who played a key role in developing the lake during the 2011 World Kannada Meet, recently visited the site. She urged officials to focus on integrated landscaping and cultural attractions to make Fort Lake a prime visitor destination.

Currently, the lake offers a walking track, boating facilities, a laser tech park, and water fountains, but many of these remain inaccessible to the public. The upcoming redevelopment will ensure better utilization of all facilities, turning the lake into a vibrant hub for tourism and leisure.

Deputy Commissioner (Administration) Laxmi Nippanikar confirmed that officials are preparing the project estimation and planning report, which they will submit soon for final approval. She also noted that along with Fort Lake, three other lakes, including Kanabaragi Lake, will undergo development under the same scheme.

With these upgrades, Fort Lake will emerge as a key cultural and recreational hub, further boosting Belagavi’s tourism appeal.
