Belagavi is set to become a key tourism hub as Karnataka’s Tourism Minister H.K. Patil unveiled a series of transformative projects. These include the introduction of a rope car at Gokak Falls, an 18-km safari at Bheemgad, and enhanced facilities at Savadatti Yellamma Hill. The announcement was made during a press conference at the Belagavi District Commissioner’s office.

Upgrades at Savadatti Yellamma Hill
With the Bharath Hunnime festival approaching, the district administration has accelerated infrastructure improvements at Savadatti Yellamma Hill. The upgrades include:
- Better crowd management systems
- Dedicated parking facilities
- LED screens for improved visibility
- New public restrooms
Additionally, the government plans to start construction of Dasoha Bhavan and Fodder Dasoha Bhavan within the next month to support pilgrims and visitors.
Adventure Tourism: Gokak Falls Rope Car & Bheemgad Safari
The government is boosting adventure tourism with a rope car at Gokak Falls and an 18-km safari in Bheemgad. Once operational, the safari will position Bheemgad as a premier wildlife tourism destination in Karnataka.
Sustainable Tourism Master Plan
A comprehensive master plan for sustainable tourism is nearing completion. The plan includes housing, infrastructure, and pilgrimage facilities, modeled after the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). Officials will soon invite public feedback through a dedicated website.
Financial Support for Seamless Execution
The Central Government has allocated ₹100 crore, with an additional ₹20 crore under the PRASAD scheme, to fund these projects. The Karnataka State Government has also pledged financial support to ensure smooth execution.
Gandhi Bharat Program Continues
The Gandhi Bharat initiative will feature 28 programs across Karnataka, concluding on October 2, 2025. Belagavi recently hosted two events on December 26 and January 21 as part of this series.
Karnataka Tourism Information Book Launched
To raise tourism awareness, Minister H.K. Patil launched a comprehensive tourism information book, detailing current and upcoming projects.

The press conference saw the participation of District Commissioner Mohammad Roshan, Superintendent of Police Dr. Bheemashankar Guled, Geeta Kaulagi, Soumya Bapat, and other key officials.
