In his petition, Mane alleged misuse of authority by the Deputy Commissioner and claimed that the entry ban curtailed his rights and amounted to a violation of human rights. He stated that MES observes Black Day annually and asserted that he has no criminal background.

Reacting to the move, Belagavi District Kannada Organisations Action Committee president Ashok Chandargi defended the Deputy Commissioner’s decision, saying Mane’s visits to Belagavi were aimed at provoking Marathi-speaking people. He said the administration’s action was justified and condemned the MP’s complaint to the Lok Sabha Speaker.
