Addressing the long-pending solid waste management problem, Jarkiholi said the issue has remained unresolved for over two decades. He proposed setting up four waste processing plants across different parts of Belagavi as a permanent solution, and alleged a lack of interest from local MLA Abhay Patil in addressing the matter.

On irrigation, the minister said the Kalasa-Banduri project is currently awaiting clearance from the National Board for Wildlife under the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. He added that preparations are underway and an all-party delegation will work towards securing the necessary approvals.

Referring to the recent collapse of Gate No. 22 at the Hipparagi barrage, Jarkiholi noted that the incident resulted in the loss of approximately 2.5 to 3.5 TMC ft of water. To mitigate the situation, Karnataka representatives plan to visit Maharashtra to request additional water release.
