There are around 50 petrol stations in the city and over 560 across the district. Oil companies such as HPCL, BPCL, and IOCL have been supplying an additional 1.3 lakh litres of petrol daily. However, rumours triggered a surge in demand earlier this week, with nearly 2.8 lakh litres sold in a single day, causing temporary disruptions.

Following clarification from the district administration, the situation stabilised by Wednesday evening, and customer turnout has since dropped to normal levels.

Meanwhile, residents continue to face difficulties with domestic LPG cylinder supply. Delays in booking and delivery persist, with a mandatory 25-day gap between bookings adding to the problem. Many households report receiving cylinders only after 30 to 35 days.

Officials from the Food and Civil Supplies Department stated that LPG agencies have been instructed to improve services, and public complaints will be addressed promptly.
