The special operation was launched as part of Drug Awareness Week and coincided with the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Police carried out coordinated raids at suspected locations, monitored the activities of suspected drug peddlers, reviewed the records of habitual offenders, and intensified surveillance across the five districts.
The drive was conducted under the supervision of Northern Range IGP Sandeep Patil, who has initiated several measures to curb the storage, transportation, sale and consumption of narcotic substances since assuming charge.
According to police, a total of 26.987 kg of narcotics, valued at approximately ₹12.38 lakh, was seized during the special operation. Four individuals from Gadag, Belagavi and Vijayapura districts have been booked for their alleged involvement in the repeated storage, transportation and sale of narcotics.

Police also organised 1,106 awareness programmes in schools and colleges across the five districts to educate students about the dangers of drug abuse.
Officials said the crackdown highlights the need for continued enforcement, as drug trafficking is increasingly spreading to smaller towns and rural areas.
