The 51-tmcft reservoir is receiving around 8,500 cusecs of inflow amid heavy rainfall in the Western Ghats. Karnataka Neeravari Nigam Limited (KNNL) officials are closely monitoring the situation as water levels in the downstream areas are expected to rise.
Authorities have issued alerts to residents living along the Ghataprabha and Hiranyakeshi rivers and advised people in riverside villages and low-lying areas to remain cautious.

Residents have also been urged to avoid entering swollen rivers or venturing near riverbanks. Officials have advised people to move to safer locations with their livestock if water levels rise further.
The Ghataprabha River is already flowing above normal levels due to sustained rainfall in its catchment area
