Also known as Markandeya Falls, the waterfall is located about 51 km from Belagavi and 15 km from Gokak. Formed by the Markandeya River, it cascades down in two stages, creating a dramatic view amid lush green hills and mist-covered valleys.
The waterfall attracts its biggest crowds during weekends, with families, friends and young travellers visiting to enjoy the monsoon weather and capture photographs and videos.
The growing popularity of the falls has also increased calls for better visitor facilities, including improved approach roads, parking, toilets, drinking water, signboards and waste-management systems.

Authorities and local stakeholders have urged visitors to exercise caution, particularly during heavy rainfall. Tourists are advised to stay away from slippery rocks, strong currents and dangerous gorge edges, and to keep children under close supervision.
With the Markandeya River flowing strongly and the surrounding landscape at its greenest, Godachinamalki Falls has emerged as a popular monsoon getaway in north Karnataka.
