Member of Parliament Jagadish Shettar recently convened a meeting with officials to assess progress on significant infrastructure projects in Belagavi district. The meeting focused on advancing key initiatives across transportation and industrial development.

Emphasis on Railway and Road Projects
Shettar urged officials to accelerate land acquisition for the Belagavi-Kittur-Dharwad railway line, instructing Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan to prioritize communication with affected farmers and resolve any outstanding issues. The MP also stressed the importance of completing the Jhalsapur-Balaga Road stretch on schedule and examined proposals for an overbridge in Tanajigalli as well as upgrades to the Shigunasi-Hunagunda-Raichur road.
Airport Expansion and Industrial Development
In addition to road and railway projects, Shettar discussed Belagavi airport expansion in Sambra. This expansion will improve connectivity with other major cities, benefiting both passenger and cargo traffic.
Shettar also directed officials to prioritize the KIADB industrial area development in Kittur. The industrial area aims to attract investment, generate jobs, and boost Belagavi’s economic growth.
Officials from South Western Railway, KIADB, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), and other agencies attended the meeting. Shettar encouraged departments to collaborate to ensure timely project completion, bringing lasting benefits to Belagavi.
These projects highlight Shettar’s commitment to enhancing Belagavi’s infrastructure and supporting its growth as a key hub in Karnataka.
