Belagavi district courts recently organized a highly successful National Lok Adalat, marking a significant milestone in local dispute resolution. This pivotal event took place across an extensive network of 82 courts within the district.

Record-Breaking Case Resolutions Achieved
Consequently, the Lok Adalat culminated in the impressive resolution of 16,665 cases. Furthermore, this widespread initiative also directed the allocation of over ₹75.2 crore in compensation. Indeed, this provided substantial financial relief to a multitude of affected individuals and parties.
Diverse Cases Amicably Addressed
Specifically, this massive mediation effort achieved the amicable settlement of a remarkably wide array of disputes. For instance, the Adalat successfully resolved 419 cheque bounce cases, thereby bringing much-needed closure to various commercial disagreements. In addition, it addressed 52 debt recovery cases. It also provided resolutions for 207 vehicle accident claims, thus ensuring victims received due compensation promptly.
Reducing Backlog and Highlighting Social Impact
Moreover, judges addressed 109 electricity supply issues, which helped streamline utility services for many. They also successfully handled 24 matrimonial cases, primarily focusing on reconciliation or fair separation. The Adalat cleared 1,630 other civil litigations, and significantly, it even processed a substantial 14,130 criminal cases. This extensive effort consequently reduced the backlog in the local justice system. Notably, in a heartwarming outcome, the Lok Adalat also facilitated the reunion of 24 couples. These pairs had been pursuing divorce for many years. This result profoundly highlights its broader societal impact, extending beyond mere legal settlements.
Substantial Compensation Disbursed Effectively
Regarding the compensation, the substantial amount disbursed included ₹11.75 crore. This sum was specifically earmarked for insurance disputes related to vehicle accidents. Therefore, it offered vital support to those impacted by unforeseen incidents, helping them rebuild their lives. Additionally, another ₹2.22 crore covered various other financial transactions. This included the resolution of bank loan disputes, further demonstrating the comprehensive nature of the Adalat’s reach.

District Principal and Sessions Court Judge T. Inavalli skillfully led the Lok Adalat proceedings, providing clear and effective direction. Judges from across the district also actively participated in this collaborative initiative. Their collective efforts ensured efficiency and fairness throughout the process. It successfully ensured speedy justice, helped reduce court burdens, and resolved numerous long-pending disputes.
