CWC meeting Belagavi 1924 Congress centenary
Belagavi, December 14, 2024: The Congress Working Committee (CWC) will hold its extended meeting in Belagavi on December 26 and 27, 2024, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi presiding over the historic 1924 Congress session during India’s freedom struggle. The CPEd Grounds will host a grand public meeting on December 27, where top Congress leaders, including AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, will address attendees. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar announced the event details during a review meeting with party leaders at Congress Bhavan.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will personally welcome dignitaries at Veer Soudha on December 26 and host a dinner in their honor. The event will bring together over 150 MPs, 40 Pradesh Congress Committee presidents, legislature party leaders, and chief ministers.
The party has decorated the city with elaborate illuminations, costing ₹7-8 crore, which D.K. Shivakumar claimed surpass the grandeur of Mysuru Dasara celebrations. AICC General Secretaries K.C. Venugopal and Randeep Surjewala will visit Belagavi next week to finalize arrangements.
The Congress plans to conduct year-long commemorative programs to honor the legacy of this historic session.
