Director General of Police (Prisons and Correctional Services) Alok Kumar paid a surprise visit to Hindalga Central Jail in Belagavi and carried out a detailed inspection of the facility.

During his visit on Tuesday, the DGP held a meeting with jail officials and issued a stern warning against any form of illegal activity within the prison. He stated that officials would be held accountable if any irregularities were found and directed them to ensure strict vigilance both inside and outside the jail premises.
Concerns were raised over mobile network availability inside the prison despite the installation of 5G jammers. The issue of mobile phones and contraband allegedly being thrown into the jail premises from outside was also discussed. The DGP instructed authorities to take strong preventive measures to curb such incidents.
Senior officials, including prison department officers and district police authorities, were present during the inspection.
