Meanwhile, the event was graced by senior medical practitioner Dr. B B Putti, who served as the chief guest and delivered a compelling speech reflecting on the seismic changes in modern healthcare. He sharply contrasted the selfless service of past doctors, who he recalled were seen as “incarnations of God.” He emphasized that these veterans served with a simplicity, often carrying just a small bag and a stethoscope, and entirely without the corporate culture that exists today.

Today, Dr. Putti noted, the landscape has changed drastically due to super-specialization, advanced technology, and the growing influence of corporate entities and pharmaceutical companies. However, his message was not entirely one of caution; Dr. Putti also expressed significant optimism about the future. He specifically highlighted that the rise of innovative tools like AI-powered personalized treatments and telemedicine signals a fearless and exciting path forward for young doctors entering the profession.
Following this, Dr. Kaujalagi delivered his formal acceptance speech. He expressed deep gratitude to the IMA members for the trust placed in him. He then pledged to dedicate his tenure to serving the IMA with utmost commitment, diligence, and strict adherence to the highest standards of medical ethics. The ceremony concluded with felicitations and expressions of support from several former office bearers and prominent doctors from across Belagavi city and district, ensuring the new team has strong backing for the year ahead.
