Traders from the government flower market have alleged that the private market has been set up without obtaining mandatory approvals from the APMC, the Department of Horticulture, or the Cantonment Board. They claim that a growing number of farmers are shifting their business to the private market, causing significant losses to those operating in the authorised market.

The aggrieved traders, who say they have invested lakhs of rupees in purchasing stalls at the government facility, met Cantonment Board Chief Executive Officer Sudam Manchale on Wednesday (February 11). They submitted a formal complaint seeking immediate closure of the allegedly unauthorised market.

The traders also stated that several stalls in the government flower market remained shut in protest and demanded that no illegal private market be allowed to function until the issue is resolved.

Responding to the concerns, CEO Manchale assured the delegation that the matter would be examined and appropriate action would be taken in accordance with legal provisions.
