Belagavi is renowned across the state for celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi with great grandeur. As preparations for the festival begin, municipal officials have already started their work by performing a puja at the Kapilatirtha Pond. Approximately 90% of the Ganesh idols in Belagavi are immersed in the Kapileshwar or Kapilatirtha Pond. To mark the beginning of the festival preparations, Mayor Savita Kamble, Deputy Mayor Anand Chavan, Municipal Commissioner Ashok Dudagunti, and other municipal staff performed a puja at the Kapileshwar Pond. Along with this, they are also ensuring cleanliness and other necessary arrangements around the lake.

Kapileshwar Pond becomes a key site during Ganesh Chaturthi. The city’s officials are preparing it to handle large crowds. This includes cleaning the pond and managing water levels.

Additionally, there are efforts to promote eco-friendly practices. The city is encouraging the use of clay idols and natural colors. Information campaigns are educating the public about these practices.
