The waterfall gets its name from the Goki trees that thrive in the region. A prime highlight here is the 200-meter-long hanging bridge, suspended 14 meters above the riverbed, offering a thrilling and panoramic view of the falls from above. On either side of the rocky cliffs lie ancient temples built in the classic Chalukyan architectural style, including the Mahalingeshwara Temple, Durga Temple, and Lord Shanmukha Temple – perfect spots to soak in both spiritual vibes and heritage.

The area surrounding the falls is equally engaging. Just 3 km away, Yogi Kolla offers excellent hiking trails through rocky terrain and forests. For a peaceful experience, head 8 km from the falls to enjoy boating on the Markandeya River near Mallaprabha. Nature lovers can unwind at Kemple Park botanical garden, while temple enthusiasts can explore Yogikolla Mallikarjuna Temple, Kariyamma Temple, Laxmi Temple, and Hanuman Temple, all located nearby.

Godachinmalki Waterfalls lies only 13 km away, making it an ideal second stop on a nature trail. For pilgrims, Saundatti Yellamma Temple, located 73 km away, is also a popular detour.

What makes Gokak historically significant is that India’s first hydroelectric power station was established here in 1887, marking a proud chapter in the country’s energy history.

How to reach: Gokak Falls is around 622 km from Bengaluru and 62 km from Belagavi, which is the nearest airport and major railway station. Belagavi is well-connected to other cities by air, rail, and road. From Belagavi, one can easily hire a taxi or take a bus to reach the falls.
