The grand Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations in Belagavi featured a lively procession with 94 colorful tableaux. Each tableau showcased Karnataka’s diverse cultural heritage and pride. District Minister Satish Jarkiholi inaugurated the event with a tribute to Goddess Bhuvaneshwari and unveiled a replica of the historic Halmidi inscription—the earliest known Kannada inscription. The Rajyotsava procession began at the district stadium and concluded at Sardar Grounds, with participants proudly carrying Kannada flags and singing traditional songs to celebrate Karnataka’s culture.
Each tableau depicted a unique aspect of Karnataka, from folk traditions to historical events. This gave viewers an opportunity to experience the rich heritage of the state. Young Kannadigas painted their faces in Karnataka’s signature yellow and red, adding to the festive atmosphere. Vendors reported high sales of Kannada flags, shawls, and memorabilia as people eagerly bought items to display their Kannada pride.

Belagavi’s streets transformed into a sea of Karnataka’s colors, with bustling activity and Kannada music filling the air. The district administration arranged a special spectator gallery at Channamma Circle to give people a clear view of the grand Rajyotsava procession. Along the route, Kannada organizations provided water and refreshments, ensuring comfort for all attendees.
City Police Commissioner Iada Martin Marbaniang confirmed that 2,500 personnel maintained security throughout the Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations. Police deployed nine Karnataka Reserve (KAR) platoons and ten Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) platoons, with hundreds of CCTVs and drone cameras monitoring the crowds. Key officials, including Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan, supervised the event to ensure a smooth and successful celebration.
