In Belagavi, the second day of the centenary celebrations of the historic 1924 Congress session, chaired by Mahatma Gandhi, has been canceled. A condolence meeting will be held at the venue to commemorate Dr. Singh’s contributions to the nation and his service as a distinguished leader.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar plan to travel to Delhi with other senior Congress leaders to pay their final respects. In his statement, Siddaramaiah described Singh as “a statesman who redefined India’s economic trajectory.”
Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar also expressed his grief, calling Dr. Singh “a beacon of wisdom and humility who inspired generations.”
Political leaders across party lines have extended their condolences, highlighting Singh’s remarkable contributions to India’s growth. In a gesture of solidarity, the BJP has also canceled its planned protest in Bengaluru.
