Minister H.K. Patil was appointed by the Karnataka government to hold talks with the farmers following BJP state president B.Y. Vijayendra’s visit earlier this week. However, the talks ended without a resolution.

Farmer leaders have refused to attend a meeting with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, insisting that the minister himself should discuss the issue with the CM and announce the government’s decision. “We will wait until tomorrow evening. If the government’s decision meets our demand, we’ll withdraw the protest; otherwise, it will continue,” they said.
The protesting farmers have also announced plans for a massive protest on November 7, including a possible national highway blockade, if the government fails to revise the sugarcane procurement price.
