Belagavi: District In-charge Minister Satish Jarkiholi announced that water has been released from the Hidkal reservoir into the Ghataprabha River for drinking purposes.

In a press statement, the minister said the decision is taken annually, and this year’s release has been carried out with approval from the Election Commission. The water flow into the river began on March 30.
He further stated that water will be released to the right and left bank canals of the Ghataprabha River on April 7, benefiting farmers across the region.
Jarkiholi emphasized that water is stored for nearly six months to support agricultural and public needs. He urged farmers and citizens to avoid wastage and ensure proper utilization of the available water.
