Winter session preparations Belagavi.

The government is planning a three-day session to mark the centenary of the 1924 National Congress, chaired by Mahatma Gandhi. Unlike previous years, when the session began in late November, this year it will likely align with the historic Congress dates in late December.

District Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Roshan is leading the efforts to ensure all arrangements are completed on time. The SVS building is undergoing thorough cleaning. Crews have finished external cleaning, including the statues. Ceiling painting inside is nearly done. The first phase of maintenance is almost complete, with more to follow.

Earlier this week, DC Roshan held a meeting with key officials to discuss session logistics. These included protest areas, parking, and security measures for lawmakers and the public. Roshan will update the Speaker and Chairperson during their visit, covering progress and pending tasks.

The winter session is expected to be a significant event for Karnataka. It will also serve as a tribute to a key moment in India’s history. The government is planning year-long programs to spread Mahatma Gandhi’s principles among younger generations. This highlights the cultural and historical importance of this year’s session.
