High Demand for Renuka Yallamma Fair
The Renuka Yallamma Temple fair in Savadatti has been a major draw, with 40-50 buses booked daily from Chikodi division depots such as Nippani, Gokak, Raibag, and Athani. Deputy Controller Shridhar Maridevarmath confirmed the deployment of 4-5 additional buses for the fair, a practice expected to continue for another two weeks.
Other Fairs Add to the Pressure
Simultaneously, the Chinchani Mayakka fair in Raibag taluk and the Ulavi Channabasaveshwar fair in Karwar district began this week, increasing the demand for exclusive bus services. The Daddi Bhavakeshwari fair in Hukkeri taluk has also contributed to the strain on resources.
To meet the demand, NWKRTC has diverted buses from neighboring divisions, leading to reduced services on regular routes. Long-route buses, particularly to Maharashtra via Kolhapur, have been curtailed, causing inconvenience to daily commuters.
Belagavi Division Manages Lesser Pressure
The Belagavi division is under slightly less strain compared to Chikodi, according to Divisional Controller Rajesh Huddar. Even so, several buses have been allocated to the Mahalaxmi fair in Nandagad, Khanapur taluk. This is to manage the growing passenger flow.
With the fair season in full swing, NWKRTC continues to balance the demands of both devotees and regular passengers.
