Belagavi, May 1, 2025 – Belagavi is gearing up to celebrate Shivaji Jayanti with tremendous enthusiasm on May 1, 2025. The city will host a grand Chitrarath Procession, showcasing vibrant tableaux, traditional performances, and cultural pride. As a result, the Belagavi City Police have planned temporary traffic diversions to ensure safety and facilitate smooth movement.

Procession Route and Timings

The procession will begin at Shivaji Garden at 2:00 PM and will proceed through the heart of the city. It will follow this route:

Maruti Galli → Ramdev Galli → Samadevi Galli → Khade Bazar → Ganpat Galli → Samaj Mandir → Ramling Khind Galli → College Road (Shani Mandir) → Fort Road → Hanuman Temple Circle.

Thousands of citizens, cultural troupes, and youth organizations are expected to join the celebration. Therefore, traffic will need special attention throughout the day.

Key Traffic Diversions

To ensure a smooth experience for both visitors and daily commuters, the police have outlined the following traffic changes:

  • Police will restrict heavy vehicles from entering central Belagavi from 2:00 PM onward.
  • They will reroute auto-rickshaws and city buses, providing temporary pickup and drop locations.
  • Emergency services will operate with monitored access to the procession areas.
  • Vehicles from Goaves, Hanuman Nagar, Shahapur, Udyambag, and Hindwadi must follow alternate roads to avoid congestion.
  • Schools and colleges must inform their transport services about the diversions.
  • No parking will be allowed along the procession route at any point during the event.

Additionally, traffic police and trained marshals will manage crowds and direct vehicles along the route to maintain a safer environment.

The Belagavi City Police urge all citizens to cooperate. In particular, people should:

  • Avoid unnecessary travel in affected areas.
  • Follow the instructions of on-duty officers.
