Belagavi Railway Station to be Renamed

The Government of Karnataka has approved the renaming of Belagavi Railway Station to Shivabasava Mahaswamiji Railway Station, as per a government communication dated November 5, 2025.

The proposal has been sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, for final approval and notification.

According to the official communication, the decision is part of a larger proposal to rename several key railway stations under the Hubli Railway Division in the South Western Railway (SWR) zone.

The Infrastructure Development, Ports and Inland Water Transport Department has confirmed the State Government’s consent to the name changes in its official letter.

Once approved by the Central Government, the new name — Shivabasava Mahaswamiji Railway Station — will be officially adopted in all railway signages, timetables, and records.
