The Belagavi City Corporation has decided to impose fines on institutions and individuals who allow roadside parking near schools, colleges, hospitals, and commercial areas.

The resolution was passed unanimously during a council meeting chaired by Mayor Mangesh Pawar, where members agreed to take strict action against illegal parking and footpath encroachments.
Corporator Sandeep Jiragyal raised the issue, pointing out that Belagavi’s growing population and increasing number of vehicles have worsened traffic congestion. He emphasized the need for mandatory parking provisions in new buildings and warned against using basement parking spaces for commercial activities.
Mayor Mangesh Pawar instructed officials to issue notices and impose fines on violators. He also urged public awareness campaigns to prevent haphazard parking and ensure smoother traffic flow in the city.
