Belagavi, April 21, 2026: In view of the grand Shiv Jayanti procession, Belagavi city police have issued a comprehensive traffic advisory with major route diversions, parking restrictions and a ban on heavy vehicles to ensure smooth conduct of the event.

The procession will move through key city routes including Nargundkar Bhave Chowk, Maruti Galli, Hutatma Chowk, Ramdev Galli, Samadevi Galli, College Road, Dharmaveer Sambhaji Circle, Ramalingkhind Galli Road, Samrat Ashok Chowk, Tilak Chowk, Hemukalani Chowk, Shani Mandir and Kapileshwar Flyover before concluding near Kapileshwar Temple.
Traffic Diversions
Traffic changes will be enforced from 2 PM on April 21 until the procession concludes on April 22. Authorities have urged commuters to use alternative routes:
- Vehicles travelling from Killa area towards Khanapur Road via Channamma Circle and College Road will be diverted from Sangolli Rayanna Circle through SP Office Road, Krishnadevaraya (Kolhapur) Circle, Y-Junction, Sadashiv Nagar, Vishweshwarayya Nagar, Gandhi Circle (Arag Talab), Shaurya Chowk and Globe Theatre Circle before rejoining Khanapur Road.
- Vehicles entering the city from Khanapur side and via Gogte Circle/Railway Flyover will be rerouted at Globe Theatre Circle through Gawli Galli Cross, Shakti Park, Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2, Shaurya Chowk, Gandhi Circle, Ganesh Mandir, Hindalga Road, Hanuman Nagar Double Road and Bauxite Road to reach the highway.
- Vehicles moving from Gogte Circle towards Railway Station, Station Road and Head Post Office Circle to Shani Mandir will be diverted via Goa Ves Circle, Nath Circle, Khade Bazar Basaveshwar Circle and Sambhaji Galli Road.
- Traffic from Nath Pai Circle towards Kapileshwar Flyover via Bank of India and SPM Road will also be rerouted through Basaveshwar Circle and Sambhaji Galli Road.
- Vehicles from Jijamata Circle towards Nargundkar Bhave Chowk, Kambli Khut and Pimpal Katta will instead move directly towards Central Bus Stand/Patson Showroom via Old PB Road.
- Vehicles heading towards Kapileshwar Flyover from Old PB Road via VRL Logistics and Bhatkande School must use Sambhaji Road via Basaveshwar Circle and Nath Circle.
- Traffic moving towards Kapileshwar Temple via Mahadwar Road and Yash Hospital will be diverted near Yash Hospital towards VRL Logistics and back to Old PB Road.
- Vehicles from Goods Shed Road heading towards Kapileshwar Flyover will be diverted towards Maratha Mandir and Goa Ves Circle.

Restrictions in Place
- One side of two-way roads and entire carriageways on certain stretches will be dedicated to the procession.
- Entry of heavy vehicles into the city is strictly prohibited from 2 PM on April 21 until the procession concludes.
- Parking of all types of vehicles is banned along the procession route and key connecting roads including Channamma Circle, Kakati Ves Road, Ganapati Galli, College Road, Camp area roads (Havelock Road, Cattle Road) and stretches from ND Khut Signal to Deshpande Khut.
Parking Arrangements
Authorities have designated specific parking areas for the public:
- Open ground behind the Women’s Police Station
- Sambhaji Maidan on Mahadwar Road
Citizens attending the procession are requested to park only in designated areas and cooperate with traffic personnel.
With lakhs of people expected to participate, the police have appealed to the public to plan their travel in advance, follow diversions and adhere to regulations to ensure a safe and smooth celebration.
