Belagavi, April 21, 2026: The city is fully prepared to host the grand Shivaji Jayanti procession on Tuesday evening, with authorities and organisers putting in extensive arrangements to ensure a smooth and vibrant celebration. The procession will commence at 6 PM from Nargundkar Bhave Chowk and will pass through several main routes before culminating near Kapileshwar Temple.

The route of the procession includes Nargundkar Bhave Chowk, Maruti Gali, Hutatma Chowk, Ramdev Gali, Samadevi Gali, Yandekhoot, College Road, Bogarves and Kirloskar Road. It will further pass via Ramalingkhind Gali, Tilak Chowk, Hemukalani Chowk, Shani Mandir and the Kapileshwar Flyover, covering key areas of the city.
Considered one of the biggest cultural events in the region, the Shivaji Jayanti procession in Belagavi attracts lakhs of spectators every year from across the district and neighbouring areas. This year, more than 70 tableaux are expected to participate, creatively portraying the life, achievements and enduring legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Adding to the grandeur, traditional martial and cultural performances such as lathimela, lezim, dhal-talvar, dandpatta and zhanjpathak will be showcased throughout the procession, reflecting Maharashtra’s rich heritage and warrior traditions.

To facilitate better viewing for the public, the Belagavi City Corporation has installed a dedicated spectator gallery at Dharmaveer Sambhaji Maharaj Chowk. Security and crowd management measures have also been put in place to handle the large turnout anticipated for the event.
Central Public Shiv Jayanti Mandal president Ankush Kesarkar, along with other office-bearers, has appealed to public representatives, dignitaries from social, educational and cooperative sectors, members of various mandals and citizens to participate in large numbers and contribute to the success of the celebration.
The event promises to be a grand tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, celebrating his legacy with cultural pride and community participation.
