According to official rainfall data, the district has received consistent and widespread showers over the past few weeks, pushing cumulative rainfall above the seasonal average. The turnaround has brought much-needed relief to farmers, who were concerned about the initial rainfall deficit at the beginning of the monsoon season.
The increased rainfall has also improved water levels in reservoirs, rivers, and groundwater sources across the district, creating favourable conditions for agriculture and ensuring better water availability.
While the abundant rainfall is expected to benefit the kharif crop season, authorities have advised residents, particularly those living in low-lying and flood-prone areas, to remain alert as more heavy rainfall is likely in the coming days.

Belagavi’s transition from a rainfall deficit to excess rainfall reflects the strengthening southwest monsoon over north Karnataka and marks a positive development for the district’s agriculture and water resources.
