Suresh alias Saikumar, a former prisoner who was released in 2024, claimed in a video statement that inmates could access special and luxury facilities by paying money. He also alleged that prison officials were involved in supplying liquor, mobile phones and other banned items.

Suresh further alleged that inmates were allowed to engage in prostitution in exchange for money, though he did not provide details to substantiate the serious claim. He said he possesses video footage and other evidence and would make it public if required.

Questioning how prohibited items could enter the prison despite security checks, Suresh alleged that such activities would not be possible without the involvement or connivance of prison officials.

The allegations have triggered discussions over security lapses and alleged irregularities at Hindalga prison. However, the claims have not been independently verified and require investigation by the authorities.

Police sources said Suresh is facing more than 20 criminal cases across different districts, including three murder cases. Kunigal police recently arrested him in connection with another case, days after his release from prison.
