The Union Ministry of Food Processing Industries organised a PMFME conference in New Delhi to mark six years of the scheme. During the event, states and districts that had performed well in implementing the scheme were honoured.
H.D. Kolekar, Joint Director of the Agriculture Department, Belagavi, was felicitated by Union Food Processing Industries Minister Chirag Paswan with a memento and certificate for the district’s performance.
Under the PMFME scheme, 1,279 micro food-processing entrepreneurs in Belagavi district have received loan approvals worth ₹97.14 crore. Of this, ₹36.61 crore has been provided as subsidy.
The financial assistance has helped local food-processing entrepreneurs start new businesses and expand existing units. The scheme also promotes value addition to agricultural produce and helps local products access wider markets.

Officials said the initiative has contributed to strengthening rural entrepreneurship and generating employment opportunities. The district administration, Agriculture Department, banks and other agencies worked in coordination to identify eligible entrepreneurs and assist them through the loan and subsidy process.
Belagavi’s recognition at the national level is being seen as an acknowledgement of the Agriculture Department’s efforts to ensure the effective implementation of the PMFME scheme. Officials said efforts will continue to bring more micro food-processing entrepreneurs under the scheme and strengthen the rural economy.
