Belagavi: The implementation of key projects under the Cities 2.0 scheme in Belagavi could face delays as the transfer of government land identified for a construction and demolition (C&D) waste processing plant remains pending.

Around 25 acres of land at Alatga village in Belagavi taluk have been identified for the project, with nearly six acres earmarked for the processing facility. Although administrative approval has been granted, the land is yet to be officially transferred to the Belagavi City Corporation (BCC).
A state-level committee monitoring the Cities 2.0 programme has directed local authorities to expedite the transfer process and submit required revenue records, including 7/12 extracts, consolidation maps and other documents.
The issue was discussed during a recent video conference with BCC officials on the progress of Cities 2.0 projects and land availability. Officials warned that delays in completing ownership formalities for even one project site could affect the overall implementation of the programme.
The proposed site falls under Yamakanmardi constituency, represented by district minister Satish Jarkiholi. The civic administration is reportedly seeking intervention to resolve the issue and speed up the land transfer.
Kavitha Warangal, managing director of Belagavi Smart City Ltd, said the land belongs to the government and the authorities have written to the concerned tahsildar seeking the necessary records for transfer to the BCC.
