Boat rides at Kittur Utsav
Kittur: As part of the Kittur Utsav, the district administration, Kittur Development Authority, and the Department of Kannada and Culture organized boat rides at Tumbe Kere Lake on Wednesday. The National Adventure Academy collaborated to make the event successful. The event was held after 15 years to mark the 200th anniversary of Rani Chennamma’s victory over the British. This added a special significance to the festival. Government Focuses on Sports and Entertainment
District Minister Satish Jarkiholi inaugurated the event and highlighted the government’s focus on sports and entertainment. He announced that various sporting activities, including adventure sports, will take place over three days. The aim is to encourage participation and showcase local talent. Jarkiholi praised the festival for blending history with entertainment. This, he said, helps ensure Rani Chennamma’s legacy reaches younger generations.
Public Enthusiasm and Safety Measures
The boat rides offered a refreshing experience, especially after a 15-year break. Organizers ensured safety by providing life jackets and monitoring the event closely. Many civic leaders and citizens expressed their hope to see this activity return annually. The authorities set affordable ticket prices, allowing everyone to enjoy the rides.
Prominent attendees included MLAs Babasaheb Patil, Mahantesh Koujalgi, and Asif Sait. Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan and SP Dr. Bhimashankar Guled were also present. The mix of sports and cultural celebrations made this year’s Kittur Utsav memorable for locals and visitors alike.
