Belagavi, October 9, 2024: Officials decided to celebrate Karnataka Rajyotsava on November 1 with great splendor in Belagavi. Even though the date coincides with Diwali, the district administration confirmed that the Rajyotsava procession will go ahead as planned. Youth organizations proposed postponing the event to November 3, but Kannada activists, including Ashok Chandargi and Ramesh Sontakki, strongly opposed this idea. Other proposals during the meeting included organizing a large cultural program on November 2 and implementing strict guidelines, such as banning flags other than the Karnataka flag during the procession. Additionally, officials called for increased funding for the event and action against those who neglect Kannada on name boards.
