Focus on Kannada Language Promotion

In her first address, Shubha B emphasized her commitment to promoting Kannada in Belagavi. She stated that all shops in the city must install Kannada nameplates, ensuring that at least 60% of the content is in Kannada. Additionally, BCC staff will be issued Kannada flag-colored ID cards, in line with the government’s order marking the 50th year of Karnataka Rajyotsava. The commissioner also mentioned plans to conduct a survey before issuing trade licenses, as part of the initiative to boost Kannada’s prominence in the city.

Commitment to City Development and Tax Collection

Shubha B outlined her focus on improving the city’s infrastructure and development. One of her top priorities is enhancing the efficiency of tax collection, which she considers crucial for Belagavi’s growth. She acknowledged the challenges of working in a new city, having served in various other districts over the past 11 years, but expressed her dedication to collaborating with BCC staff and local citizens to advance the city’s progress.
