Temple Surroundings Flooded as Idol Submerges
The rains blocked access to the temple, and water partially submerged the deity’s idol. Devotees waded through chest-deep water to offer their prayers. The heavy rainfall affected not only the temple but also flooded the surrounding areas.
Increased Devotee Rush Expected During Full Moon
Tomorrow marks an important religious day, being the full moon (Poornima), and traditionally, this brings an even larger crowd to the Yallamma Temple. Many devotees believe that visiting the temple on this auspicious day brings blessings and good fortune. Despite the hazardous conditions caused by the flooding, authorities expect a large number of devotees today and tomorrow.
To manage the crowd and ensure safety, local officials have increased monitoring around the temple. The district administration has urged devotees to prioritize their safety, but the influx of visitors continues. Temporary measures, including the deployment of additional volunteers and emergency response teams, are being considered to assist in case of worsening conditions.
The surrounding areas of the temple remain waterlogged, causing significant challenges for both visitors and the temple staff. As the rain continues, locals fear further damage not just to the temple but to nearby homes and farms as well. Despite these difficulties, the devotion and commitment of the pilgrims remain strong, as they continue to find ways to reach the temple and offer their prayers.
