As CM Siddaramaiah addressed the gathering and spoke about the Pahalgam terror attack, a BJP woman activist suddenly shouted, “Go Go Pakistan.” Meanwhile, others unfurled black cloths in protest. Police officers at the venue quickly moved in and detained the protesting activists. Notably, the protesters had positioned themselves earlier near the public gallery beside the stage.

Enraged by the disruption, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah summoned a police officer onto the stage. He publicly reprimanded him for the security lapse. In a moment of frustration, Siddaramaiah even raised his hand against the officer, expressing his deep anger over the breach.

Despite the chaos, he continued his speech. He launched a fierce verbal attack against the BJP. In addition, he raised slogans such as “Jai Congress,” “Jai Bapu,” and “Jai Bhim.” He also declared that the Congress party would not fear any threats or intimidation.

Siddaramaiah went on to accuse the central government of failing in its responsibilities. He warned that such protests would not weaken the Congress party’s resolve.

Protesters Detained

Following the incident, police detained BJP activists Shilpa Kekre, Pavitra, Sumitra Reshma, and Annapurna. They were taken into custody for creating the disruption. Later, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar sought a detailed report on the incident from Bagalkote ASP Mahantesh Jiddi.

BJP Stages Counter-Protest

In response, BJP activists staged a protest outside the Belagavi Camp Police Station. They strongly criticized Siddaramaiah’s behavior towards the police officer.

Soon, the protest led to a heated exchange between the BJP protesters and the police. Although officers tried to calm the situation, tensions ran high between both groups.

Overall, the incident has sparked significant political tensions across Karnataka. Both parties have since intensified their war of words, making the political atmosphere even more charged.
