Belagavi: MLA Asif (Raju) Sait has announced plans to set up a well-equipped chess park at Sardar High School to help students make constructive use of their leisure time. The proposed chess park will come up on the site of a dilapidated old room located near the main entrance of the school.

The MLA inspected the site on Monday and later held a meeting with officials from various departments at the school auditorium. He directed the concerned authorities to prepare a detailed plan for the chess park, which is intended to benefit students from schools across the city by promoting indoor games such as chess and carrom.
Mr. Sait also said that ₹5 crore has been sanctioned from his MLA funds for the construction of a new school building within the campus. He instructed officials to clear the existing dilapidated building of the Deputy Director of Public Instruction office and initiate the construction process at the earliest.
Noting that over 450 students are currently enrolled in the school, the MLA stressed the need for a dining hall. He directed officials to utilize part of the ₹34.3 lakh grant sanctioned for the 2025–26 academic year for the construction of a well-equipped dining facility.
