Three-Day Kittur Utsav to Begin on October 23 in Belagavi

Belagavi: The three-day Kittur Utsav will commence on October 23 at historic Kittur Fort, featuring a vibrant mix of music, folk traditions, sports, exhibitions and literary programmes.

In a notable first, farmer leader and Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha and Hasiru Sene representative Chukki Nanjundaswamy will inaugurate the festival instead of a politician.

The celebrations will begin with the unfurling of the festival flag by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Toshan, followed by the ceremonial reception of Kittur Rani Chennamma’s Vijaya Jyoti in the presence of district minister Satish Jarkiholi.

The festival will feature a Janapada Kalavahini procession with around 70 folk art troupes, along with flower and fruit exhibitions, exhibition stalls, a mega health camp and a livestock exhibition.

Music lovers can look forward to performances by popular singers Rajesh Krishnan, Arjun Janya, Shamita Malnad and Chandan Shetty. The second day will also feature a symposium on the history and legacy of the Kittur dynasty, along with poetry recitals and cultural programmes across multiple stages.

The final day will feature a live performance by music director Arjun Janya and his troupe, followed by a comedy show by actor Sharan. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar is expected to attend the valedictory function.

With a blend of history, culture, entertainment and public activities, Kittur Utsav is set to attract visitors from Belagavi district and neighbouring regions.
