White boundary lines are being drawn to demarcate vending spaces, and corporation officials have been instructing vendors to operate strictly within the marked areas. Officials have also warned that action will be taken against those who violate the rules.
The initiative began at Nargundkar Bhave Chowk following a similar exercise at Khasbag weekly market. The move comes after repeated demands from corporator Ravi Salunkhe, residents and traders for better market management and designated vending spaces.
Vendors occupying roads along Khade Bazaar Road, Ramdev Galli, Shaniwar Khoot and adjoining areas have long been a concern for commuters and pedestrians due to traffic bottlenecks and encroachments.

Residents have welcomed the initiative but stressed the need for consistent enforcement. They have urged the corporation to replace temporary lime markings with permanent lines, install signboards and conduct regular inspections to prevent encroachments from returning.
Citizens said sustained monitoring would be essential to ensure smoother traffic movement, safer pedestrian access and better discipline in Belagavi’s busy market areas.
