Flight Cancellations Push Belagavi Towards Economic Crisis

Belagavi: The cancellation of the Belagavi–Mumbai flight has triggered widespread concern, with industry leaders warning that the city is facing a serious economic crisis due to the loss of critical air connectivity. Mumbai, being India’s financial and commercial hub, plays a vital role in supporting Belagavi’s industrial, business, and export activities.

Business representatives estimate that the disruption has already impacted nearly 40% of overall commercial activity. Export-oriented units and global collaborations are particularly affected, as overseas clients and inspection agencies are unable to access the city easily. Industry bodies have also cautioned that 10,000 to 15,000 jobs could be at risk if flight services are not restored promptly.

In response, stakeholders have demanded the immediate restoration of cancelled flights, especially the Belagavi–Mumbai sector, along with the introduction of long-pending direct routes to Pune and Chennai. They have also called for strong political intervention and a united delegation to New Delhi to ensure sustainable and transparent air connectivity, which they say is crucial for Belagavi’s economic stability and future growth.
