Mr. Shettar said he held discussions with IndiGo’s head of sales, Anshul Sethi, urging the airline to restart Mumbai services and expand air connectivity from Belagavi to major cities such as Chennai, Pune and Surat. According to the MP, the airline has given a clear assurance on restarting the Mumbai route and agreed to consider additional destinations based on public demand.

He highlighted that hundreds of businessmen travel daily between Belagavi and Mumbai, and the lack of direct flight services has been causing inconvenience.

Meanwhile, Mr. Shettar reviewed the progress of key development projects in the district with senior officials from the district administration, Railways and NHAI. Officials informed him that land acquisition for the Belagavi–Kittur–Dharwad railway line has been completed and that railway and highway works are expected to pick up pace.

The MP also said he would take up the pending land transfer issue between the Indian Air Force and the Airports Authority of India with the Defence Minister to facilitate the expansion of Belagavi airport at Sambra.
