Under the initiative, four women Home Guards have been deployed in each unit, functioning under the supervision of a Police Inspector. The team will focus on preventing harassment, stalking, and eve-teasing in public places, workplaces, educational institutions, and online platforms.
Akka Pade teams will conduct regular visits to schools, colleges, bus stands, markets, and other public areas to create awareness about women’s safety laws, cybercrime prevention, complaint procedures, road safety, and the harmful effects of drug abuse. Members have received specialized training in gender sensitivity, legal awareness, surveillance techniques, communication skills, cyber safety, and case management.

To provide immediate support, an “Akka” Women’s Helpline WhatsApp service (8277951185) has also been launched. The helpline offers legal guidance, counselling, information on government schemes, and assistance related to cybercrime.
Officials stated that the initiative aims to create a safer environment for women through both on-ground monitoring and digital outreach, strengthening confidence and encouraging timely reporting of incidents.
